The 2005 Acura RL is a powerful and graceful vehicle that provides for a smooth ride, luxury amenities, and a wide variety of gadgets. 2006 Acura MDX
Refined styling and rugged versatility have never coexisted so harmoniously as with the Acura MDX. With its sleek lines, muscular shape and refined elegance, you'll feel confident driving it. But for more reasons than its sheer good looks. With its powerful engine and myriad of advanced safety features, you'll travel with newfound authority, knowing that when you're in an Acura, up-to-the-minute technology is behind your every move. And when you add quick handling and performance to the equation, the MDX amounts to the most exhilarating 7-passenger luxury SUV on the road. 2006 Acura NSX
Acura NSX drivers are passionate. Adventurous. Gregarious. Engrossed in all the details. That's why there's a place where every option can be explored. And every nuance discovered. Whether you are taking a 3-D tour of the 2005 NSX exterior or you're ogling the interior from the virtual driver's seat, you'll find that entering the Interactive Showroom is the next best thing to being there. In fact, the only thing more pleasurable than choosing an NSX is driving one. 2006 Acura RL
The 2006 Acura RL is not just an all-new, class-leading performance sedan. It's the quintessential luxury sedan. Upon first glance, its dramatic styling beckons. On closer inspection, its countless technological feats are overtly apparent. Case in point: a 300-horsepower, V-6, VTEC® engine and the revolutionary Super Handling All-Wheel Drive? (SH-AWD?)--the groundbreaking all-wheel drive platform that distributes torque between the front and rear wheels and can send up to 100% of the rear-wheel torque to either the left or right rear wheel. There's even a real-time traffic feature that displays traffic updates 24-hours a day in select metropolitan areas. 2006 Acura RSX
With its nimble, racecar handling and myriad of comforts, the 2006 RSX is the quintessence of performance and luxury. Equally at home on a merciless mountain road as a big-city interstate, the RSX and RSX Type-S dish up powerful, unparalleled thrills. Strategically savvy interior appointments easily accommodate its highly demanding sports coupe owner, while impressing even the most discriminating luxury coupe driver. 2006 Acura TL
Few sedans combine innovative technology and high performance with such landmark precision as the 2005 Acura TL. The 270-horsepower, 3.2-liter TL is an advanced study in both, from its powerful 24-valve, VTEC® engine and 4-wheel independent double-wishbone suspension system, to an impressive console of sophisticated amenities, including Bluetooth? wireless cell phone technology and Acura/ELS? Premium 8-speaker Surround-Sound System with DVD-Audio. As with all Acura models, luxury and performance add up to miles of extreme exhilaration in the 2005 TL. 2006 Acura TSX
With its sleek, sporty styling, the new 2005 Acura TSX is highly contemporary, yet a timeless masterwork, designed to endure well into the future. Its 200-hp i-VTEC® engine accelerates smoothly in any gear and engine speed through either a close-ratio 6-speed manual or a 5-speed Sequential SportShift with Grade Logic Control automatic transmission. Its outstanding handling and agility is due partly to the engine's lightweight materials. There is also an abundance of luxury amenities and innovative safety features that add to this dynamic sports car's remarkable performance, craftsmanship and style. 2006 Audi A3
Audi can't help you with the envy thing. But the parking thing's a breeze with the A3, the most compact of Audi's cars conveyed to North Americans. (There's an aluminum A2 city car sold in Europe, but its tall-narrow-short monospace shape seems to be missing its Matchbox logo along with its entry visa.) The A3 five-door will rightly be known with the suffix Sportback when it migrates to the States, and will be pitched at those hazily defined active-lifestylers who never sit down long enough to be properly tagged for observation. 2006 Audi A4
Audi is preparing a major mid-cycle freshening of its A4 sedan and wagon, prior to a full ground-up redesign thats planned for 2008. The face-lifted A4 debuts this fall in Europe and should arrive in U.S. dealerships next spring, probably as a 2006 model. 2006 Audi A6
If your car-purchasing motives include impressing the boorish burghers of the County Orange, there are plenty of flashy cars at the $50,000 price point that bounce the needle more. The A6 Avant is a car for people with money who would really rather not make an issue of it -- your anonymous-opera-benefactor types. It's also quietly gorgeous. Redesigned for 2006 and just hitting the market, the station wagon has a newly sleek skin that looks curried by the wind, a restyling that buffs out any linearity of the previous design, which wasn't exactly boxy to begin with. All the exterior detailing is vacu-formed, sucked into the bodywork: The glass and polished window surrounds are nearly flush; the door handles are embedded into the sheet metal; the lighting instruments (including the new LED tail lamps) wrap around like a military contractor's sunglasses. 2006 Audi A8
Start editing! 2006 Audi Allroad
Concept cars fall into two categories: those that are so otherworldly that they're fit only for a sci-fi B-movie, and those that are a thinly veiled production car. This Audi allroad quattro concept falls firmly into the latter category. It's a one-off built for the Detroit auto show and worth $3.5 million, but behind the glitzy show car detailing lays a very real product. This prototype will form the basis for the next allroad road car 2006 Audi Q7
Power will come from the same 4.2-liter V8 found in the Audi A6/A8 sedans, and the interior will include three rows of seating and an optional full-length glass moon roof. Expect pricing for 4.2-liter models in the $60,000 range. 2006 Audi RS 4
Audi has chosen its trendsetting and groundbreaking FSI technology for the RS 4 saloon, direct gasoline injection ensuring even more effective combustion of the fuel/air mixture and, as a result, an even better power yield. This is matched by the highly responsive development of power, the RS 4 accelerating to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds and reaching 200 km/h in 16.6 seconds. Top speed is cut off electron¬ically at 250 km/h. 2006 Audi S4
In addition to its six-spoke Avus-style wheels and low-profile running shoes, the S4's visual threat is enhanced with more aggressive grille work up front and larger dual exhausts out back. Polished aluminum side-mirror housings are Audi's polite way of saying, "Out of the way, Jack!" Out of respect for the unwritten law that insists that every automobile with sporting intentions must have a deck-lid spoiler, there's one on the S4 sedan's rump. At least it's discreet. 2006 Audi TT
Although it still looks good after four years on the market, the TT is headed for a complete redesign in 2006. Altering the look of a car that depends so heavily on styling for its appeal is always tricky so expect an evolutionary design update that doesn't stray too far from the original. It's expected to share a platform with the A3 and will continue with a mix of four- and six-cylinder powerplants. 2006 BMW 3 Series
While 3-Series sedans and wagons are redesigned for 2006, coupes and convertibles continue with a design introduced for 1999. These models have rear-wheel drive and inline 6-cyl engines. The 325 versions have a 185-hp 2.5-liter, 330 models a 225-hp 3.0, M3 editions a 333-hp 3.2. The 325s offer a 5-speed manual transmission or 5-speed automatic. M3s offer a 6-speed manual or BMW's 6-speed Sequential Manual Gearbox. This sequential manual transmission (SMT) is essentially a manual transmission without a clutch pedal. Gear changes are via a floor shifter or steering-wheel paddles; it can also be set to shift like an automatic. 2006 BMW 5 Series
Start editing! 2006 BMW 6 Series
Building on BMW's thoroughbred sports coupe heritage, the 6's aggressive lines and low-slung kidney-grille project a dynamic spirit and a compelling sense of style. Behind the wheel, it's pure passion. A heart-pounding launch to 60 mph in a mere 5.3 seconds*, fired by a 4.8-liter V-8 engine and controlled by your choice of three precise 6-Speed transmissions. Exceptional performance and level handling in the fastest corners with BMW's innovative new Active Roll Stabilization (ARS). Refined luxury and a near-obsessive attention to the smallest of details. The 6 Coupe. Exceed expectations. 2006 BMW M
?M? stands for Motorsport. And there?s no question that these cars have racing in their blood. The engine roars. The pulse quickens. Exhilaration becomes an understatement. The M Cars. Joy, measured in milliseconds. 2006 BMW M5
Fortified with a Formula One-inspired V10 engine, this Motorsport version of the latest 5 Series looks as though it will raise the bar once again in the super-sport sedan category. With roughly 500 horsepower, a seven-speed SMG gearbox and 19-inch tires, BMW predicts that this car will hit 60 mph in less than five seconds and blitz the quarter-mile in just 13 ? supercar stats indeed. And although playing the part of sleeper sedan is always amusing, the M5 won't be very good at it given its lower stance, reshaped front and rear fascias and unmistakable quad-tipped exhaust. 2006 Cadillac CTS
The CTS comes in a single trim level but numerous option packages enable buyers to add varying levels of additional luxury- and sport-oriented features. Standard equipment includes leather seating, side and head-protecting side-curtain airbags, an eight-way power-adjustable driver seat, dual-zone climate control, a CD player, the OnStar communications system, ABS and traction control. Upgrades through the Luxury package include items like a power passenger seat, a two-driver memory package, heated front seats, HomeLink and wood trim on the steering wheel and shift lever. Additional options include a sunroof and an upgraded Bose audio package with a DVD-based navigation system and satellite radio. 2006 Cadillac DeVille
Start editing! 2006 Cadillac DTS
While the rest of Cadillac's lineup has migrated to a new rear-wheel-drive platform, the next-generation DTS will retain its front-wheel-drive setup when it debuts next year. The new DTS will most likely incorporate some of Cadillac's new design philosophy but the focus will remain on comfort instead of performance. Its size isn't likely to change much, but look for the incorporation of the new technological features and improved interior materials. 2006 Cadillac Escalade
Start editing! 2006 Cadillac SRX
Considered Cadillac's first crossover utility vehicle by combining the attributes of more than one vehicle class, the SRX wagon debuted for the 2004 model year. Built on General Motors' Sigma platform like the company's CTS sedan, the luxury-oriented SRX comes with a V-6 or V-8 engine and either rear- or all-wheel drive. 2006 Cadillac STS
Cadillac has made it clear that it intends to give the V-Series treatment to more than just the CTS, so it wasn't much of a surprise when heavily modified prototypes of the STS were photographed making the rounds at Germany's Nurburgring test track. Power is expected to come from a supercharged version of Cadillac's 4.6-liter Northstar V8 putting the STS-V in the 400-500-horsepower range. And don't be surprised if it shows up with a six-speed manual transmission either as Cadillac fully intends for this car to be a true competitor to BMW's M5 super sedan. 2006 Cadillac V-Series
Start editing! 2006 Cadillac XLR
With the CTS-V already burning up the streets with its Corvette-sourced V8, Cadillac has turned its attention to the XLR for V-Series treatment. Instead of an LS6 V8, however, the XLR-V is expected to get a supercharged version of its standard 4.6-liter Northstar V8. A full complement of performance enhancements such as larger wheels and tires, recalibrated suspension and stronger brakes should round out the package giving Cadillac a serious performance entry in the luxury convertible segment. 2006 Chevrolet Avalanche

Start editing! 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt
Chevrolet revises the 2006 Cobalt lineup, ditching the Base trim in favor of LS, LT sedan, and a new premium LTZ version (sedan only) for the volume models. Also new this year are SS coupes and SS sedans with a 171-horsepower, 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine under the hood, special exterior trim, 17-inch wheels, four-wheel-disc antilock brakes, and performance suspension tuning. The hot SS Supercharged coupe from last year returns for 2006. Majestic Amethyst and Laser Blue are the new colors this year. 2006 Chevrolet Colorado
Start editing! 2006 Chevrolet Corvette
Shorter and slightly narrower than its predecessor and sporting fixed headlights rather than pop-up units, the sixth-generation coupe and convertible promise nearly as much passenger space. A super-performance Z06 edition with a 505-horsepower V-8 engine debuts for 2006. 2006 Chevrolet Express
Start editing! 2006 Chevrolet HHR
After the successful launch of the 9-3 Cabrio and sedan, Saab is gearing up for yet another addition to the lineup in the form of a sport wagon. A concept version of this upcoming addition was unveiled at this year's Frankfurt International Motor Show. With a shape inspired by the earlier Saab 9-3X concept, Saab further refined the idea into the 9-3 Sport-Hatch concept. Intended to blur the lines between traditional wagons and hatchbacks, the Sport-Hatch is less radical than the 9-3X, but no less appealing thanks to its swoopy exterior shape and more useful configuration. In very Saab-like fashion, the five-door "fastback" is powered by a 2.0-liter turbo engine which rated at 250 horsepower. Expect to see a production version of the Sport-Hatch later next year. 2006 Chevrolet Impala
Chevrolet is currently working on a revamped Impala that will most likely appear for the 2006 model year. It won't be a full-scale redesign just a mild refresh, but both the front and rear ends should see noticeable styling changes. Not much is expected to change underneath the sheet metal, but the interior may get some much needed upgrades 2006 Chevrolet Malibu
Start editing! 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
Chevrolet has made significant mechanical and styling upgrades to its Monte Carlo coupe this year. The major mechanical change is the introduction of a trio of new engines. Last year's normally aspirated engines were fuel-efficient but not particularly sporty. They've been replaced by two new V6s with variable valve timing. 2006 Chevrolet Silverado
Chevrolet's large pickups are mostly unchanged for 2006, awaiting redesigned replacements due as early 2007 models. This report covers half-ton 1500-series Silverados in regular, extended, and Crew Cab models. Extendeds have rear-hinged back doors that don't open independently of the fronts; Crew Cabs have four conventional doors. Both include a 3-person rear bench seat and offer front bucket seats as well as a bench. Regulars and extendeds offer 6.6- and 8.0-ft Fleetside cargo beds or a 6.6-ft Sportside flare-fender box. Crews use a 5.8-ft Fleetside box and roughly match short-bed extendeds in overall length. 2006 Chevrolet SSR

For this, the current Suburban's last year on the market, Chevrolet adds a new LTZ model to the lineup. The LTZ includes a 6.0-liter V8 making 335 horsepower, an all-wheel-drive system rather than the usual part-time two-speed transfer case, 20-inch wheels wearing 55-series rubber and fronting a Z55 suspension setup, and unique trim inside and out. The Suburban LTZ comes painted in black, red, blue, silver, or white. The LTZ includes the same list of features as the LT, with one unique option called the Sun, Sound, and Destinations Package, which bundles a power sunroof with a navigation system and a Bose in-dash CD changer with XM satellite radio. Speaking of XM, its antenna is now integrated with the OnStar telematics for a cleaner appearance. Also new, on Suburban 2500,are heated, extending camper mirrors with a convex "spotter" feature. All 2006 Chevrolet Suburbans are equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system.A redesigned Suburban is due in showrooms for the summer of 2006. 2006 Chevy Venture
Start editing! 2006 Chrysler Crossfire
The new 2006 Chrysler Crossfire comes in a sophisticated two tone, twin cockpit interior. To add to the sporty Crossfire's appearance is the center spine shape which also appears on the shifter and instrument panel. The new Crossfire center console is metallic from the top of the instrument panel to the center of the car and gives this new Chrysler a sporty durable look. Metallic accents are featured throughout the interior including the doors, steering wheel, and instrument panel. The ignition switch is located on the instrument panel not the commonly seen steering column. By the time Crossfire had evolved from concept to production, it had been given a 3.2 LTR 18 valve SOHC V6 engine. 2006 Chrysler Pacifica
Pacifica is specially tuned to deliver agile sport sedan cornering and handling, making it fun to drive. Its sophisticated five-link rear suspension, self-leveling rear shock absorbers, precision variable-assist rack-and-pinion steering, and large tires on wide wheels make it an outstanding sports tourer for the open road. Yet, Pacifica is equally at home in the city, steering through traffic with an excellent ride that is exceptionally quiet. 2006 Chrysler Sebring

The F430 signals the arrival of a brand new generation of Ferrari 8-cylinder models. This new car takes Ferrari?s extraordinary achievements with aluminium technology, begun with the 360 Modena, to a whole new level, and offers a series of extremely significant innovations directly derived from the Ferrari Formula 1 single-seaters. Two of these innovations are world firsts for production cars: the electronic differential (E-Diff) and the steering wheel-mounted switch (better known to the Formula 1 Scuderia?s drivers as "manettino"), which manages the integrated systems governing vehicle dynamics. 2006 Ford Crown Victoria
Crown Victoria is a sedan for traditional large-car buyers who seek the features offered in the American cars they grew up with roominess, comfort, smooth ride, V-8 power and rear-wheel drive. Size, safety and dependability remain hallmarks, and Crown Victoria continues to earn the government's highest five-star crash rating for the driver and front passenger. 2006 Ford E-Series Passenger Van

Start editing! 2006 Ford Explorer
Enhanced comfort, more power and new safety features are the headlines for the 2006 Ford Explorer. Drive this latest Explorer against an earlier version and you'll likely notice that it's quieter and more refined. Ford added additional sound insulation to reduce road noise and revised the Explorer's suspension and frame for improved ride quality. There are other mechanical changes, as well, such as upgraded brakes (now with EBD and brake assist) and a steering rack that reduces the effort required to turn the steering wheel at low speeds. 2006 Ford F-150
With a revised Dodge Ram on sale for 2006 and a brand-new, Texas-built Toyota Tundra on the horizon, Ford is not taking any chances with its F-150 Pickup this year. A limited-edition F-150 Harley-Davidson model debuts, equipped with rear-wheel-drive or an all-wheel-drive system - a first on an F-150. The Harley truck includes special interior and exterior trim, rich aniline leather upholstery, and 22-inch polished and forged aluminum wheels. Twenty-inch wheels can be ordered for the F-150 FX4, Lariat, and King Ranch this year, and traction control is now available on any 2WD model equipped with a V8 engine. 2006 Ford Five Hundred
After debuting last year, the 2006 Ford Five Hundred sees few changes. Leather upholstery is now available on the base SE model, while the SEL and Limited versions can be outfitted with a Family Entertainment System including a rear seat DVD player. A navigation system is also optional, but only on the top Limited trim level. Silver Birch is the single new color for 2006. 2006 Ford Focus
A new Street Appearance Package for the ZX3, ZX4, and ZX5 lends a customized appearance to the 2006 Ford Focus with unique front and rear fascias and a chrome exhaust tip. Finally, new colors include Dark Red Toreador metallic, Pueblo Gold metallic, and Screaming Yellow clearcoat. 2006 Ford Freestar
The Freestar returns for 2006 available in four trims: SE, SEL, Limited, and Cargo van models. There are two engines available on the Freestar. The SE and Cargo Van's receive a 3.9L V6 with 193 horsepower and 240 lbs-ft of torque while the SEL and Limited are equipped with a 4.2L V6 producing 201 horsepower and 263 lbs-ft of torque. The 4.2L V6 is the largest engine currently available in a minivan. Another versatile feature is the third row bench seat that folds-away into the floor, leaving a flat cargo compartment. Safety features include the optional three-row front-to-back head protection air bags and standard front and rear disc brakes with ABS. A DVD entertainment system, power adjustable pedals, and AdvanceTrac stability control are also available. 2006 Ford Freestyle
The standard Duratec 3.0L engine and CVT give Freestyle impressive car-like fuel economy of 20 city/27 highway for front front-wheel-drive models and 19 city/24 highway* for all-wheel-drive models. Freestyle earned NHTSA?s five-star crash test rating ? the highest rating available ? for both front and side impacts. And it did so without the added benefit of the optional side airbags. Not only do you get a great view, you also get room to stretch with best-in-class+ 1st-, 2nd- and 3rd-row leg room. Room for your stuff is also best-in-class with fold-down 2nd- and 3rd-row seat backs. 2006 Ford Fusion
The Fusion is aimed directly at midsize sedan stars such as Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, and Nissan Altima. An all-aluminum 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine will be standard with an optional 3.0-liter V6 available. Both power plants will drive the front wheels and there will be a choice of manual, automatic or continuously variable transmissions. The Fusion will also be offered with a hybrid power plant. 2006 Ford GT
Simply put, the Ford GT is an all-American supercar that was created in homage to the GT40 racecars that dominated competition at Le Mans in the mid-1960s. A supercharged, midmounted V-8 produces 550 horsepower, which is roughly equivalent to the output from the original, larger engine that went into competition GT40 cars. A limited-edition model for 2006 commemorates Ford's 1966 victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. 2006 Ford Mustang
Redesigned for 2005, the current-generation Ford Mustang is larger than the prior model and features styling cues that hark back to the 1967 version. Mustangs have a standard V-6 engine, but the GT holds a 300-horsepower V-8. Occupants get more space than in the previous generation. Coupes and convertibles are offered. 2006 Ford Ranger
Ford's compact pickups get only a mild facelift for 2006. Ranger offers regular-cab and extended SuperCab models spanning six trim packages. SuperCabs have two rear fold-down jump seats as standard or optional, depending on trim, and are available with back-hinged rear access doors. Regulars offer 6- and 7-ft cargo beds; SuperCabs use the 6 ft only. Engines comprise a 2.3-liter 4-cyl and 3.0- and 4.0-liter V6s. All use manual or 5-speed automatic transmission and standard rear-wheel drive. V6s also offer 4WD that can't be used on dry pavement but includes low-range gearing. All models come with 4-wheel ABS. Leather upholstery is among the many options. Mazda's B-Series trucks are retrimmed Rangers with a different pricing and features mix. Styling changes for '06 Rangers involve modest revisions to bumpers, grille, fenders, and lights. 2006 Ford Taurus
The Taurus enters 2006 again available in four models: SE and SEL Sedan, with the SE and SEL Wagons coming later on in the year. All models feature a 3.0L V-6 engine that produces 155 horsepower and 185 ft-lbs of torque. Standard equipment on the Taurus includes a four-speed automatic transmission, keyless entry remote system, front and rear mudguards, and power convenience features. The optional Safety and Security Package features traction control, anti-lock brakes, and front side impact airbags. The SEL Premium Package includes a six-disc CD changer with AM/FM cassette stereo, electronic climate control, leather seating surfaces, rear spoiler (sedan), power adjustable passenger seat, and automatic headlamps. 2006 Ford Thunderbird

Along with its new Allison 1000 five-speed automatic transmission, this powertrain makes significant improvements in terms of fuel economy, emissions levels and off-road capability over the H1's previous power plant. Additional changes to the H1 include a new, larger capacity fuel tank and a body height increase of 2 inches which is meant to accommodate the new engine and transmission as well as add additional clearance. 2006 HUMMER H3

But it's also a Lexus: roomy and quiet inside, with a luxurious cabin swathed in leather and bird's-eye maple. Its 4.7-liter overhead-cam V8 and smoothly responsive five-speed automatic transmission provide ample power and performance, whether towing, trail-bashing, or carving corners on a coastal highway. Other performance-oriented features include Racing Hart F10 wheels, Goodyear F1 GS-D3 tires, a Ralliart exhaust along with a custom air intake, a rear stabilizer bar, cross-drilled rotors, a coil-over spring suspension and Brembo four-piston front brakes -- but don't get too excited as most of these parts aren't likely to remain on the production version. 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer

The name "Raider" was originally used on a Dodge SUV that shared its construction with the Mitsubishi Montero. The base models will most likely be powered by the Dakota's 3.7-liter V6, which is capable of 210 horsepower. High-end versions of the Raider are expected to house a 4.7-liter V8, which yields 230 hp and 290 pound-feet of torque. While driving new cars all the time I have to take notes -- mental and with pen and paper. And, it?s annoying to hop from car to car not knowing where the light switch is or flipping the lightswitch when trying to find the windshield wiper gizmo. Like I said, it?s tough, but somebody has to do it. Before you cry me a river or call me ?negative? let me say it was only slightly embarrassing when I stalled the 2004 Suzuki Aerio SX while trying to back out of a parking spot at Oxford Bank, there in downtown Oxford. It had nothing to do with the 2.3L, DOHC 16-valve four cylinder engine. No design flaw with the foot pedal configuration. Nope. I just forgot I was driving a stick. Designed by Pininfarina, the Ferrari 600 will be built on a shorter version of the Scaglietti's aluminum spaceframe chassis and also use the 612's front/midengine layout. The 600 should weigh in close to the Scaglietti at roughly 4,000 pounds. When it debuts in the spring of 2006, the Ferrari 600 will feature an MSRP somewhere in between the F430 and the Scaglietti 2007 Ford Explorer

Storage room will be further increased through a swing-over tubular bed extender as well as a 30-percent augmentation of the cargo bed. The coupe is the smaller 2-door model of Honda's ultra-popular Civic line of cars. Internally, the coupe is no different than the Sedan model, featuring the same engine and features, the difference is all on the outside, and less storage capacity for people in the back seat as well as a smaller trunk. The 2007 model stays in the eighth generation of Civics which follows the bold and futuristic styling that has garnered mixed reactions. 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid
The hybrid Civic is Honda's environmentally friendly answer to the 2007 Toyota Prius in the small size sedan market. Due to the extra space requirements that the battery cells require to power the electric motor, the sedan model is the only available hybrid form. Furthermore, the battery cells reduce the available trunk space from 12 cubic feet in the non-hybrid Civic Sedan to 10.4 on the Hybrid. The battery cells also prevent the rear seats from folding inwards, to give more storage space, like they do on the non-hybrid version. 2007 Honda Civic Sedan

Identical to the Si coupe, the Si Sedan has a major improvement in the engine going from the 1.8L SOHC to a 2.0L K20 DOHC i-VTEC which delivers 197 HP at 7800 RPM. Wheels are 17" allow up from 16" in the non-Si. The transmission moves from a 5-speed to 6-speed manual with no automatic option. 2007 Honda CR-V
2007 is a redesign year for the popular CR-V line of SUVs from Honda. Available in both 2WD and 4WD models boasting 30 mpg and 28 mpg respectively. Most noticeable change is the sleeker exterior with the spare wheel no longer fixed to the rear hatch that now opens vertically. Available in the US in three trim levels: LX, EX, and the upscale EX-L. The CR-V is 1.37 nearer to the ground and 1.18 inches wider than its predecessor, and along with suspension and chassis tweaks will drive more like a car. Powered by a 166 hp engine that delivers 161 ft-lbs. of torque. Expected to be available in the US in late September. 2007 Honda Fit

What's special about the Mazda3 is its global design process with a body developed by Volvo, electronics from Ford, with engine design/production and overall tuning happening at Mazda in Japan. Now, Nissan has found one more attribute that completes the Altima's line-up - superb fuel economy from a state-of-the-art hybrid gasoline-electric powertrain. 2007 Nissan Sentra
Going without a redesign for six years (2000-2006) the Nissan Sentra moves up Nissan's line up with a massive redesign for the 2007 year. Nissan joins the other car manufacturers in moving their traditional sub-compact cars into the compact range, which keeps the Sentra competitive with cars such as the Honda Civic. 2007 Nissan Versa
Unlike Nissan's competition in the minicar market the Versa started life as a luxury subcompact car in other parts of the world. When the minicar market started to boom in North America Nissan already had the Versa (known as the Tiida in other markets) and brought the 2007 version over. Despite the economy nature of the minicar market Nissan opted to retain the luxury roots when they brought the Versa over. 2007 Pontiac Solstice
A year after the redesigned Solstice comes to market in the fall of 2005, Pontiac is expected to release a high-powered GXP version of its new roadster. The 2007 Solstice GXP will be distinguished primarily through its dual exhaust pipes, more aggressive wheels and tires and more powerful engine. Power will likely come from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with horsepower in the 200-hp neighborhood. This engine will be mated with a six-speed manual transmission for extra driving pleasure. 2007 Toyota Camry
The Toyota Camry is a mid-size sedan, and one of the best selling cars in the US. The 2007 Camry is also available as a Hybrid. 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid
The Toyota Camry Hybrid is all-new for the 2007 model year. The heart of the Camry Hybrid is Toyota's 2.4l Inline-4 cylinder connected to an electric motor that uses the power generated during braking and decelertion phases. The combined output of this powertrain is 187 hp and 38 lb-ft.Gas mileage is rated at 40 mpg city and 38 mpg on the highway. Compared to the standard Camr sedan, th Hybrid's trunk-space decreases to 10.6 cu-ft from 15.0 cu-t, due to the batteries for the Hybrid powertrain that are stored in the trunk. 2007 Toyota Corolla
The 2007 Toyota Corolla is built off of the ninth generation Corolla frame which was introduced in 2003. A 10th generation model is available in Japan, and Toyota will introduce a new redesigned Corolla for the 2009 year. Starting life as an entry level subcompact, the Corolla has moved up in the world with the Honda Civic and Nissan Sentra to make room for the Toyota Yaris. The XRS sport tuned model which featured a more powerful engine is no longer available for the 2007 year. 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser

The Matrix is Toyota's answer to the working professional that likes to seek adventure on the weekends. When it was introduced in 2003, the Matrix was one of the first vehicles known as Crossovers that combine the storage requirements of a van or SUV, with the handling and speed of a sedan. For 2007 the Matrix remains largely unchanged from its first model featuring minor improvements across the board. The 2006 Matrix had a sporty XRS model, and All Wheel Drive options available, but both of those are dropped for 2007. Trimming down the model lineup leaves the base model, and a slightly upgraded XR model. Built upon the Corolla base the Matrix is jointly developed with General Motors who offers an almost identical vehicle in the Pontiac Vibe. 2007 Toyota Prius

Contrary to rumors, Toyota's Supra replacement will in no way, shape or form, bear any resemblance to the Giugiaro-designed Volta concept which appeared in Geneva last March. Toyota does, however, plan on delivering a high-performance sports car along the lines of the departed Supra some time between the end of 2006 and 2007. This two-door, front-engine, rear-wheel-drive sport coupe might be built on an all-new platform, although it's expected that Lexus will not build its own variation. 2007 Toyota Tundra
Although the current Tundra enjoys brisk sales due to its refined ride and easy-to-drive demeanor, Toyota knows that in order to compete with the big boys it needs a bigger truck. The next-generation Tundra will be a full-size truck in every respect, with a larger V8 power plant and comparable dimensions to Detroit's biggest and best. The FTX concept truck shown at the 2004 Detroit Auto Show was a preview of what Toyota has in mind. Its outlandish size and styling may get toned down a bit for the production truck, but there's no doubt who Toyota is targeting. In fact, Toyota is so intent on building a credible truck, it's constructing an all-new plant in San Antonio, Texas, to build it. 2007 Toyota Yaris
Built around the core concept of "pride of ownership" the Yaris is Toyota's 2007 entry into the competitive minicar market, which includes the Honda Fit and Nissan Versa. Toyota's previous offering for this level, the Toyota Echo, received lukewarm response by critics and in the marketplace. There are two different models of the Yaris, a 3-door liftback and a 4-door sedan, a 5-door hatchback is also available in Canada. Leveraging Toyota's massive resources the Sedan and Hatchback versions of the car were created by two entirely different teams, so while the specifics of the cars remain similar or even identical, the feel is quite distinct. 2007 Volkswagen Jetta
Jetta is one of Volkswagen's most popular cars as it brings European luxury stylings and designs and wraps them in an economy price. The 2007 Jetta is part of the fifth generation of models introduced in the 2006 year. Previous Jettas were available in wagon versions, but for 2007 VW is offering only a sedan. There are four different models which vary in features and engine that range from an entry level price of $16,000 to the fully loaded GLI which comes in at $31,000. This broad range of prices makes it competitive to the other compact cars such as the Honda Civic and Nissan Sentra, while on the upper end making it compete with Nissan's Altima. With the new generation Volkswagen focused on strength and rigidity using high strength steel and laser welding in the manufacturing process. 2007 Volkswagen Passat Wagon

In other parts of the world the name Rabbit has never been used, and the Golf brand will continue outside of North America. The Rabbit is built on the 5th generation Golf design, and while it contains many similarities to the 2006 Golf, there are many differences and improvements as well. The launch of the Rabbit is heavily marketed to combat the already strong competition in the form of the Honda Fit and Civic, and the Nissan Versa and Sentra. 2008 BMW 1 Series

You will feel better knowing that you saved money getting a real car instead. For those looking for a car with more room, you should also consider the 2009 Honda Accord EX-L which is essentially the top of the line Accord today. 2009 Nissan Altima Coupe
The 2009 Nissan Altima Coupe is a marginal update to the previous year's newly introduced 2008 Altima Coupe. While the models between the two years are almost identical save for some minor improvements on the 2009 - including a higher-finish grille and larger wheel sizes on the more expensive trim levels - the differences with the Altima Sedan are quite significant. Most obvious is the exterior styling of the two cars as the Coupe has both a shorter wheel-base and shorter height to achieve a sportier look while sacrificing interior room, particularly in the trunk area. Interior-wise both cars feature a very similar setup using the same engine and offering almost identical packages. The Altima Coupe stands out somewhat from the crowd, and even from the Sedan model, as the base packages include a relatively large amount of premium features including heated seats, 6-speaker audio system, side airbags, moonroof, power-everything, etc. There are 2 main trim levels with an optional premium package per trim. 2009 Nissan Altima Sedan

Silence Inc, a joint venture between two Canadian companies, EBW (Electric Big Wheel) and T-Rex, have created the Silence PT2: an electric 3-wheel vehicle. The PT2 is advertised to last for 125-250 miles on a single charge, and can reach a speed of 120 mph. It is 13 feet long, six feet wide and four feet high. Swiper

Volkswagen used last year's Frankfurt International Motor Show to introduce its fifth-generation Golf and it looks to be yet another solid entry in this long line of popular hatchbacks. The new design is longer, wider and taller than the previous version resulting in more rear leg- and headroom as well as additional cargo capacity. Both two- and four-door versions are offered in three trim levels. U.S.-spec engine information has not yet been announced, but European versions use a mix of direct injection diesel and gas-powered units. A six-speed automatic is offered along with VW's Direct Shift Gearbox that blends elements of both automatic and manual transmissions. An all-new multilink suspension underpins the rear while struts are used up front. A unique electromechanical steering system is also new. Volvo XC60 Start editing! |
